Fifty years between them and a programme about memory. Charlotte Melkonian is thirteen, made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2024 and received the Usedom Music Prize in 2026; since 2026 she has been the youngest scholarship holder of the Anne-Sophie-Mutter-Stiftung.
Jascha Nemtsov rediscovered much of this music himself: works by Weprik, Bloch, Ullmann and Weinberg, composers who also lived through persecution. The concert takes place at Nemtsov&Nemtsov – Raum für Kunst und Diskurs – on a cello built by Stefano Scarampella around 1900, which Charlotte won at the competition of the Deutscher Musikinstrumentenfonds. The pianist Jascha Nemtsov, holder of the first chair in Jewish music history in Europe, accompanies her at the piano.
