Sounds of Light

Works by Max Janowski, Jossele Rosenblatt, Joachim Stutschewsky, Alexander Weprik, Juliusz Wolfsohn and many more

For the finale of the International Days of Jewish Music, pianist Jascha Nemtsov and cantor Alina Treiger celebrate Hanukkah, the festival of lights, in a special way. Nemtsov, professor of Jewish music history, and Alina Treiger, the first woman to be ordained as a rabbi in Germany since the Shoah, join the festive joy of liturgical compositions by Max Janowski and Jossele Rosenblatt with Hasidic melodies and songs in several languages. The programme is rounded off by works of Joachim Stutschewsky, Alexander Weprik and Juliusz Wolfsohn, which bring Jewish art music together in the light of liturgical sound.
